FAQs

Physiotherapy FAQs

What should I expect from my first appointment?
Your first appointment will include a discussion about your symptoms and history, a physical assessment, and the chance to talk through your side of things — any goals or preferences you have. We'll then typically get straight into your first treatment in the same session. We allow up to 60 minutes to cover all of this thoroughly.
What conditions do you treat?
We treat a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions — from back, neck and joint pain to sports injuries, tendon problems, post-surgery rehabilitation, and more. We also help with headaches, dizziness and jaw pain, and work with people at all ages and activity levels. If you don't see your condition listed, just get in touch and we'll let you know if we can help.
How many sessions will I need?
This varies depending on the nature and severity of your condition. We'll give you an honest indication at your first appointment and keep you informed as your treatment progresses.
What should I wear to my appointment?
Come as you are — we're used to seeing patients in everything from gym gear to corporate attire! Loose pants or shorts can be helpful if we need to access your legs or knees, but don't stress if you're coming straight from work. We also have shorts available at the clinic if needed.
Do I need to bring anything to my first appointment?
Nothing is required, but if you have any relevant imaging, scans or reports from another health professional, feel free to bring these along. Otherwise just bring yourself — we'll take care of the rest.
How do I book an appointment?
You can book online through our website, or give us a call. For Rehab Pilates, a 1:1 initial session is required before joining classes — you can book this online too.
Do you accept Medicare referrals?
Yes. To access Medicare-rebated physiotherapy, your GP will need to complete a Chronic Disease Management Plan (often referred to by its old name, an EPC plan). This means Medicare will rebate you at least $63.40 per session, typically across 5 sessions. Our full fee is payable on the day — if you bring your Medicare card and an EFTPOS card, we can process your rebate on the spot directly to your cheque or savings account.
Do you treat work or motor vehicle accident injuries?
Yes. We treat injuries covered by Workers Compensation and CTP insurance following motor vehicle accidents. Please let us know when booking that your treatment will be under Workers Compensation or CTP. We'll help organise the required information and arrange payment directly with your insurer where appropriate, so you won't need to pay upfront.
Do you do home visits?
Yes — for those nearby, we'll do our best to help. Home visits are arranged on a case by case basis, so please get in touch and we'll see what we can do.

Pilates FAQs

Do I need any Pilates experience to join a class?
Not at all. Both our Rehab and General Pilates classes welcome complete beginners. Our instructors will guide you through the equipment and exercises and make sure you're working at a level that suits you from the start.
How do I know whether Rehab or General Pilates is right for me?
The main difference is how the class is structured. In Rehab Pilates, you follow an individual program designed specifically for you by a physiotherapist — making it the better fit if you have specific physical needs, are managing pain, or are recovering from injury. In General Pilates, the class follows the instructor together as a group, with a focus on building strength, fitness and body awareness. If you're still unsure, just get in touch and we'll help point you in the right direction.
What do I wear to a Pilates class?
Any comfortable clothing you can move in is fine — there's no specific dress code. We wear socks in the studio. Some people like grip socks, but there's no great need.
How many people are in a class?
All of our Reformer Pilates classes — both Rehab and General — have a maximum of four participants. This means you get a genuinely personalised experience in every session.
Do you offer private 1:1 or 2:1 Pilates sessions?
Yes — if you'd prefer a more private setting or want to train with a friend or partner, we can arrange 1:1 or 2:1 sessions. Get in touch to discuss availability and pricing.
Can I claim Pilates through my private health insurance?
It depends on the class type. Rehab Pilates is run by our physiotherapists and is claimable through most private health funds as a group physiotherapy service, depending on your level of cover. General Pilates is not typically claimable through private health insurance. We have HICAPS available, so you can claim on the spot using your health fund card or app and simply pay the gap.
What is the initial session for Rehab Pilates and do I need one?
Yes — before joining Rehab Pilates classes, a 1:1 initial session with one of our physiotherapists is required. This includes your assessment, your first lesson on the reformer, and the development of your individual program. It's a great way to get started with confidence and make sure the program is right for you from day one.
Can I do Pilates if I'm pregnant?
Yes — we welcome pregnant and post-natal clients. Please let us know when booking so we can make sure you're in the right class and our instructors can support you appropriately throughout.

Massage Therapy FAQs

What is remedial massage and what can it help with?
Remedial massage is a therapeutic, hands-on treatment that can be tailored to whatever you need on the day — whether that's focused work on a specific problem or a more general treatment to help you unwind and recover. It can help with muscle tightness and stiffness, neck, back and shoulder tension, sports recovery, general aches and pains, improving movement, and stress relief.
What should I expect from my first massage appointment?
Your therapist will start with a brief discussion about what's been bothering you and what you'd like to get out of the session. Treatment is then tailored to your needs on the day. You'll be appropriately draped throughout and only the area being treated will be uncovered.
How long are massage appointments?
We offer 30, 60 and 90 minute appointments. A 30 minute session works well for targeting one or two specific areas. 60 minutes gives plenty of time for a more thorough treatment and is a popular choice for most needs. 90 minutes allows us to cover many areas or a full body treatment.
Can I claim massage through my private health insurance?
Yes, in most cases. Remedial massage is claimable through most private health funds, depending on your level of cover. We have HICAPS available so you can claim on the spot and simply pay the gap.
Do I need a referral or physiotherapy appointment first?
No — you can book directly with our massage therapist without seeing a physiotherapist first. That said, many of our clients do both, and our team works closely together where it's helpful.

General FAQs

Where are you located and what are your hours?
We're located in the heart of Rozelle's village shopping area on Darling Street. For our full address, parking details and opening hours, visit our Contact & Location page.
How do I book an appointment?
You can book online through our website, give us a call, or simply pop in.
What is your cancellation policy?
Please let us know by the end of the day before if you need to cancel or reschedule. Cancellations on the day or missed appointments may incur a fee of 50% of the appointment cost. If something comes up, just get in touch as soon as you can. If you're able to rebook into an available time that day or the next, we'll typically waive the fee.

Do you see children?
Yes — our physiotherapists see children and adolescents for a wide range of injuries, pain and sports-related issues. If you're unsure whether we're the right fit, feel free to get in touch and we're happy to discuss. For more complex cases involving neurological or developmental conditions, we'd recommend seeking a specialist paediatric physiotherapist and can help point you in the right direction.
Do you have disability access?
Yes — our reception and treatment rooms are at ground level with a level entrance. There is a small threshold at the entrance (7cm) for which we have a ramp available. Please note that our Pilates studio is located upstairs on the first floor. If you have any specific access needs, feel free to get in touch and we'll do our best to help.

After years of dealing with ongoing neck issues, I finally decided to see a physio, and I’m so glad I did. I highly recommend Kimmy. She was personable and attentive. Even after just 1–2 sessions, I noticed a huge difference. I now very rarely experience any issues, and I feel confident knowing exactly what to do if they do come up. Thanks Kimmy!

I’ve always enjoyed exercise and an active lifestyle. I was having problems with arthritis in my knee and it had become very limiting. I was very lucky to find Ryan at Rozelle Physio. Ryan assessed my knee and together we set a plan to reach my goal of reducing pain and getting back to my normal activities. From my first visit my knee felt a little better and slowly but surely I am now pain free and back to doing the things I enjoy. I’d highly recommend Ryan and Rozelle physio

Kimmy from Rozelle physio was great. I presented with a back injury and she was great with going through the injury, working the muscles as well as exercises to strengthen the area. I would recommend this clinic for anyone

Worked with Ryan over a couple of months to get on top of a foot injury. He was great in working out the best solution during our sessions and gave me a workable schedule of things to do at home. Fortunately, I’m back in full swing.
