Men’s Health Physio

Erectile dysfunction (ED) is a common condition that affects many men at some point in their lives. While it can be frustrating or concerning, it is important to recognise that ED is not a single diagnosis. Rather, it is a symptom that can arise from several different underlying causes.

In clinical practice, erectile dysfunction may be linked to vascular, hormonal, neurological, or psychological factors. In many men, particularly from midlife onwards, reduced blood flow to the erectile tissue is a major contributor. This is often referred to as vascular erectile dysfunction.

Because ED can have several causes, assessment is an important first step. Before commencing treatment, it is advisable to discuss your symptoms with your GP or a urologist. This helps ensure that any underlying medical factors are appropriately assessed and that the treatment pathway chosen is suitable for your individual situation.

For men with vascular erectile dysfunction, one option that may be considered is low-intensity shockwave therapy.

At our clinic, this treatment is delivered using the ED1000 Shockwave Machine. The device applies targeted low-intensity sound waves to the erectile tissue. These mechanical pulses are thought to stimulate biological processes that support blood vessel function and encourage the development of new microvascular circulation.

Treatment is non-invasive and does not involve injections or surgery.

Treatment involves a series of sessions over several weeks. The number and frequency of treatments will depend on your individual circumstances, although the treatment protocols used in clinical studies have generally involved multiple sessions delivered over a number of weeks.

The initial appointment lasts approximately one hour and includes a detailed history and assessment, followed by the first treatment if appropriate. Subsequent sessions take up to 30 minutes.

If you have been experiencing symptoms of ED and would like to explore whether shockwave therapy may be appropriate, the first step is to discuss the issue with your GP or urologist. They can help determine whether vascular factors may be contributing and whether this type of treatment may be suitable for you.

After years of dealing with ongoing neck issues, I finally decided to see a physio, and I’m so glad I did. I highly recommend Kimmy. She was personable and attentive. Even after just 1–2 sessions, I noticed a huge difference. I now very rarely experience any issues, and I feel confident knowing exactly what to do if they do come up. Thanks Kimmy!

I’ve always enjoyed exercise and an active lifestyle. I was having problems with arthritis in my knee and it had become very limiting. I was very lucky to find Ryan at Rozelle Physio. Ryan assessed my knee and together we set a plan to reach my goal of reducing pain and getting back to my normal activities. From my first visit my knee felt a little better and slowly but surely I am now pain free and back to doing the things I enjoy. I’d highly recommend Ryan and Rozelle physio

Kimmy from Rozelle physio was great. I presented with a back injury and she was great with going through the injury, working the muscles as well as exercises to strengthen the area. I would recommend this clinic for anyone

Worked with Ryan over a couple of months to get on top of a foot injury. He was great in working out the best solution during our sessions and gave me a workable schedule of things to do at home. Fortunately, I’m back in full swing.
